William Edward "Barney" Barnett

William Edward "Barney" Barnett, age 90 of Wellsville, KS passed away March 22, 2019 at his home. Funeral Services will be 10AM, Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa. Visitation will be 5-7PM, Monday evening at Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville. Interment will follow services in the Pleasant Valley Cemetery in Miami County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Calvary Baptist Church in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
William Edward "Barney" Barnett was born October 22, 1928 in Paola, Kansas, the son of Roy and Anna Charlotte (Alpert) Barnett. Barney graduated from Wellsville High School in 1946. On May 28, 1950, he married Sally Ann Miller at her home in Wellsville. They were married almost 69 years before his passing. She survives at the home. Barney farmed growing up and for a short time while living at home after high school. He worked in the gas industry for more than 40 years until he retired and was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Ottawa. He loved his family, gardening and tending to his many rose bushes.
Barney is survived by his wife of the home; daughter and son-in-law, Charlotte and Ken Weddle of Topeka, KS; son and daughter-in-law, Greg and Linda Barnett of Paola; daughter and son-in-law, Tami and Jeff Spencer of Wellsville; 9 grandchildren many great and great-great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, one brother and two sisters.
