Willard LeRoy McCracken, age 86, of Wellsville, Kansas, passed away on August 1, 2022, in his home. A visitation will be held Friday, August 5th at Wilson Funeral Home 607 Main Street Wellsville, Kansas 6:00 PM-8:00 PM. A memorial service is planned for 2:00 P.M. on Saturday, August 6th at Open Table Community Church 4730 Stafford Rd. Wellsville, Kansas. Burial will immediately follow at the Wellsville Cemetery in Wellsville, Kansas.

He was born on December 15, 1935, to Mack and Plumer Leealla (Childress) McCracken in Purdy, Missouri the third of five children. He attended school in Purdy, Missouri and then married Shirley Page on November 19, 1966. They celebrate 55 ½ years together. They were blessed with four children, Lynne (Hobson), Jeff, Cindy (Crooks), and Matt. 17 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
In the 1960’s, he moved to Edgerton, Kansas, where he worked at the Sunflower Ammunition Plant, Carpenter Local 61 Union in commercial construction, Sunflower Ready Mix as a concrete truck driver, and Edgerton Quarry as a truck driver. He developed a legacy of workmanship for his kids with family business – McCracken Tree Service & McCracken Trash Service.
In 2008 he and Shirley retired at Hermitage, MO Pomme de Terre Lake. Recently relocated to Wellsville, Kansas to be close to family.
Willard attended the Bethel Assembly of God Church in Hermitage, Missouri. He enjoyed family, fishing, and hunting. One of his favorite interests was playing games, specifically “FastTrack”.
He is preceded in death by his, parents, Mack and Lee McCracken, brother, Norman McCracken, sisters Wilma Shockley and Hazel Davis.
He is survived by his wife Shirley McCracken (Wellsville, KS), sons, Jeff McCracken (Wellsville, KS) Matt McCracken (& Kellie), (Gardner, KS); daughters, Lynne Hobson (& Brad) (Jonesboro, AR), Cindy Crooks (& Charlie) (Edgerton, KS) grandchildren, Tiffany Carrete, Kayla Stitt, Brady Hobson, Grant Hobson, Nathan McCracken, Neil McCracken, Nevin McCracken, Natasha Schott, Brandon Crooks, Amanda Crooks, Lewis Zimmerman, Chelsea Crooks, Caiti Crooks, Macy Crooks, Megan McCracken, Sydney McCracken, Dominic Jaramillo. 18 great grandchildren. sister, Lily Davis (Lawrence, KS), and several nieces and nephews.
