Sharon Adeline Smith Scoby, age 80 of Walnut, Kansas passed away Monday, July 21, 2025 at Kansas Medical Center in Andover, Kansas. Graveside services will be 10AM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at Walnut Creek Cemetery in Wellsville, Kansas.
Sharon Adeline Scoby was born October 13, 1944 in Mulberry, Kansas the daughter of Miles Davis Neil, Jr. and Thelma Lucille (Thompson) Neil. She grew up in Mulberry, KS and in October of 1968, she married Clyde Ronald Smith in Miami, Oklahoma. He preceded her in death October 19, 1991. Sharon loved buying and selling. She loved garage sales and eventually opened her own business: The Walnut Thrift Store that she operated for many many years. Sharon was also an amazing homemaker and mother. She was active in her children’s school lives and was a room mother, often baking for all of her children’s classes. On March 18, 1994, Sharon married Charles Michael Scoby in Oklahoma. They were together 33 years before her passing. Mike survives at the home. Sharon learned to drive an 18-wheeler in 1993 and she was an over the road truck driver with her husband until 2008. She was very proud of that accomplishment and enjoyed being on the road.
Sharon raised dachshund dogs, loved crafting, collecting sea shells in Florida and travelling when she could. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother.
Sharon is survived by her husband Michael Scoby of Walnut, KS; daughter, Melanie Crumby (Robert) of Fort Scott, KS; daughter Sabrina Smith of Spring Hill, KS; daughter, Vanessa Landreth (Ed) of Walnut, KS; son Rodney Smith (Tina) of Ottawa, KS; brother, Miles Neil of Walker, MO; brother, Boomer Neil (Laurie) of Mulberry, KS; brother, Sam Neil (Marilyn) of Arma, KS; sister, Melissa Schlup of Walker, KS; numerous grand and great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, first husband, son, Gregory Puffinbarger; daughter, Christy Chambers, 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
