Ronald James Vignery, age 76 of Baldwin City, KS passed away Friday, June 2, 2023 at his home with family by his side. Funeral Services will be 10AM, Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be 5-7PM, Tuesday evening, June 6, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the WJRC or Samaritan’s Purse in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Ronald James Vignery was born December 24, 1946 in Horton, Kansas the son of Orville James and Hazel Fern (Barleen) Vignery. He grew up with his two sisters in Vining/Clifton, Kansas where he loved sports and old cars. He graduated from Clifton Rural High School in 1964. On August 26, 1967, Ron married Carol Jean Dreiling in Plainville, Kansas and they shared 55 years of marriage before his passing. She survives at the home.
Ron was drafted into the United States Army in October of 1969 and served his country in Korea during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1971.
Ron earned a Bachelor’s degree from Fort Hayes State University and later earned another Bachelor’s degree in Business Accounting from Avila University with his GI Bill. After earning this degree, he worked for Gas Service Company in KCMO before settling into a payroll accounting position with United Telecom which would become North Supply Company, and later, Sprint North Supply. He worked 25 years with the company and served many years as the payroll manager.
Ron enjoyed pheasant hunting, camping and fishing. He loved coaching softball, baseball and basketball for his children and grandchildren’s teams. He loved history, and KSU sports, especially football and basketball. He will be missed immensely by those who knew and loved him and were touched by his presence in their lives.
Ron is survived by his wife, Carol of the home; son, Curtis J. Vignery (Brook) of Platte City, MO; daughter, Roni Peacock (Danny) of Baldwin City; grandchildren; Brock Vignery and Judah Vignery; Jessica Pritchett (Cody); Kaylynn Peacock and Hunter Peacock; great-grandchildren, Payton and Roman Pritchett; sister, Marcia Simoneau (Jim) of Spring Hill; and many nieces, nephews and close friends. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Sharon Cailteux who just passed April 30, 2023.
