Ronald Dee Huffman, age 85 of Princeton, Kansas passed away Saturday, September 7, 2024 at Advent Health Shawnee Mission. A Celebration of Life will be held 1-3PM, Saturday, September 21, 2024 at Municipal Auditorium in Osawatomie. Memorial contributions may be made to the Faith Community Church in Osawatomie in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Ronald Dee Huffman was born December 9, 1938 in Fairmount, Missouri, the son of Herbert J. and Catherine Maxine (Whetstone) Huffman. He grew up in Osawatomie and graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1956.
Ron joined the United States Army in 1963 and was honorably discharged in 1965. On August 19, 1965, he married Rose Eileen Servais of Lane, Kansas in rural Osawatomie. They shared 59 years of marriage before his passing. She survives at the home in Princeton.
Ron worked for the Union Pacific Railroad as a diesel mechanic after graduation from high school and retired in 1994. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, farming, collecting Coleman lanterns and spending time with his family.
Ron is survived by his wife, Eileen Huffman of the home; son and daughter-n-law, Randy and Paula Huffman of Osawatomie; son and daughter-in-law, Aaron “Sam” and Amy Huffman of Spring Hill; son and daughter-in-law, Andrew and Colette Huffman of Paola; sisters, Leslie Spitzenberger and Pam Sherman; grandchildren: Jason Huffman, Stevi Yates, Clint Slyter, Hallie Herren, Samuel Huffman, Haidyn Richardson, Kerstin Gant, Cole Hrabe, Taylor Huffman, Holly Huffman and Landon Huffman; 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother, Chris Tyrell and an infant brother, Mark Lewis Tyrell.
