Roger Alvin McDaniel, age 57 of Edgerton , Kansas passed away Monday, December 5, 2016 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11AM, Friday, December 9, 2016 at the Northland Cathedral in Kansas City, Missouri with visitation preceding at 9AM. Interment will follow services in the Antioch Cemetery. Roger Alvin McDaniel was born July 31, 1959 in Gardner, KS, the son of Bob and Alberta (McCauley) McDaniel. He grew up in Edgerton and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1977. He attended Mid-America Nazarene College and graduated with a Bachelors Degree in 1981. On May 25, 1990 he married LaVonne Janee Michael at Northland Cathedral in Kansas City, MO. They were married 26 years before his passing. She survives at the home in Edgerton. During his younger years, Roger worked for Orman's Furniture in Stillwell, Kansas. After college, Roger worked for Sprint, Embarq, Centurylink and eventually KGP, where he was currently employed for the last 27 years. Roger was a Ministry Deacon and currently an Elder at Northland Cathedral in KCMO. He had been a member of the church since 1978. Roger loved antiques and old cars. He was always present. For his son, with and for his wife and her students at their numerous concerts and performances, and for any and all that might need him in any given instance. He loved Southern Gospel Music and attending live gospel performances. He was a fixer, he was dependable and a lover of people. In the eyes of many he was a gifted piano player and will be missed dearly by all those who were touched by his kindness and love.
Roger is survived by his wife of the home; his father, Bob McDaniel of Edgerton; his son and daughter-in-law, Bobbie and Emily McDaniel of Oklahoma City; OK; sister and brother-in-law, Lexie Lou and Tom Terrono of Lee's Summit, MO; sister and brother-in-law, Catherine Sue and Albert Thomas of Lead Hill, AR; many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Alberta McDaniel (2008).
