Robert Lee Coons, Jr., age 79 of Linn Valley, Kansas passed away Tuesday, January 7, 2025 at Olathe Medical Center. Cremation. Memorial visitation will be held 2-4PM, Saturday, March 29, 2025. A private burial will take place prior in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to “Twisted B Equine Productions” for the benefit of youth enrichment and experience in Rodeo as a sport: 2668 Delaware Road, Pomona, KS 66076.
Robert Lee Coons, Jr. was born May 16, 1945 in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Robert Lee and Francis Berniece (Myers) Coons. He spent his younger grade school years in Olathe before moving to Wellsville and graduating from WHS in 1963. In June of that year, Bob joined the United States Navy, serving his country during the Vietnam War. He was honorably discharged in 1967.
In 1965, Bob married Lynn Maseley. They later divorced. In 1975, he married Pamela Bazil and she survives at the home in Linn Valley.
Bob worked many jobs throughout his life and retired as a paper carrier for the Kansas City Star after 30 years. He enjoyed gardening, camping and motorcycles. He made it a priority that everyone was able to learn to water ski. He enjoyed working the Weiner Wagon and Snack Shack, watching the Royals and Chiefs and loved the Little League World Series.
Bob is survived by his wife, Pam of the home; son, Chad Coons of Broken Bow, OK; son and daughter-in-law, Boyce and Melissa Coons of Tulley, OK; step-daughter, Samantha Kane of Ottawa; step-son, JJ Kline of Lawrence; 5 grandchildren: Chyna Coons, PJ Belt, Haley Kline, Lucius Harrison and Lucia Torres; one great-granddaughter, Hartley Dolbow; sister, Claudia Bivins (Terry) of Lebo; sister, Linda Fritzshall (Randy) of Overland Park, KS; brother, Clyde Coons (Debbie) of Wellsville; brother, Kevin Coons (Teri) of Wellsville; brother, Curt Coons (Cheryl) of Overland Park; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, brother Nathan Coons (2006) and brother Myron Coons (2022).
