Olive Buehler Obituary

Olive Ann Buehler, age 77 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 4, 2017 at the Olathe Health Hospice House. Funeral mass will be 10:30AM, Thursday, May 11, 2017 at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Gardner, Kansas. Visitation will be 5-8PM, Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville. Interment will follow mass at the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Friends of the Library in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Olive Ann Buehler was born May 17, 1939 in Selma, Alabama, the daughter of Arnold Russell and Harriett Alberta (Collar) Eppley. Olive grew up in Monett, Missouri and graduated from high school in 1957. On April 29, 1957 she married Leonard Buehler in Aurora, MO. They were married 55 years before his passing in 2012. In 1970, they moved to Wellsville and spent the remainder of their years here. Olive was a homemaker until she went to the Wellsville City Library for a few years. Around 1980, Olive went to work for the Wellsville School District. She spent many years in the Wellsville Elementary School Library. Olive loved working with children and books. She was extremely gifted in all forms of art and was active in helping with plays, proms, and other school activities. Olive was known for her creative abilities. Santas, Santas, and more Santas. From molding their tiny faces to the intricate designing of their clothing. She made up to 170 per year and had attended craft shows for 24 years. She was a member of the Crescent Club, The DAR, Beta Sigma Phi and the Divine Mercy Parish of Gardner. She loved collecting glass, antiques, dragons and hosting her grandchildren at "Camp Grandma", where she taught them to cook, to paint, draw, play dice and cards. She will be missed by all those who knew her and loved her. She put her gentle and loving influence on hundreds of children who will remember her for her love of books and teaching.
Olive is survived by her daughter, Denise (Donald) Edris of Andover, Kansas; son, Dan Buehler of Windsor, CO; son, Kevin (Sandy) Buehler of Overland Park, KS; daughter, Deana (Jason) Miller of Wellsville; daughter, Kaylene Shore of Paola; sister, Donna Callis of Monett, MO; daughter-in-law, Terri and Russ Parker of Rosehill, KS; 16 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, David Buehler (2006), grandson, Bryan Edris (2016), twin infants (1960), and a brother Carroll Eppley.
