Michael Terrell McAfee

Michael Terrell McAfee, age 76 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Thursday, October 2, 2025 at home with his family by his side. Mike was cremated and per his wishes, no services are planned. In his memory, memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Paws or Secret Santa of Wellsville in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Michael Terrell McAfee was born July 11, 1949 in Heber Springs, Arkansas, the son of William Terrell and Velda M. (Goodloe) McAfee. He grew up in his younger years in Kansas City, attending Hawthorne Elementary School, then later moved to Basehor where he graduated from high school in 1967. Mike retired in 1991 after working in construction for many years and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 2. Mike made his final move to Wellsville in April of 2010. He was an associate member of the Wellsville United Methodist Church. Mike was a father, granddad, brother, uncle, and Pappy to many and a stranger to none. He will be dearly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his daughter, Darla Callahan of Tallahassee, FL; son, Wiliam “Bill” McAfee and his wife, Bonnita of Centerville, SD; step-daughter, Lisa Taber and her husband David of Bonner Springs; 11 grandchildren: Danny “DJ”, Joshua, Jasmine, Jacqueline, Jacob, Malissa, Matthew, Aaron, Kaleigh, Austin and Michael; great-grandchildren: Daxlyn and Waylon; honorary grandchildren: Jesse, Madi and Taylor; sister, Rebecca Eggleston and her husband Dick of Romance, AR; brother, Richard McAfee of Troy, IL; sister, Marilyn McAfee of Searcy, AR; brother, Tim McAfee and his wife Sharon of Rosebud, AR; brother Jeff McAfee and his wife Sarah of Wellsville; brother Todd McAfee and his wife Lorie of Rosebud, AR; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brother, William Danel McAfee and a sister, Betty Jane Smith.
