Graveside services will be 2:30PM, Wednesday, August 28, 2024 at the Edgerton Cemetery, W 207th St, Edgerton, KS 66021 with visitation at 1PM, prior at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, KS. Mary Virginia “Ginny” Wallis was born August 31, 1930 in Eldon, Missouri, the daughter of George and Pearl (Harrison) Abbott. She grew up in Eldon and graduated from Eldon High School in 1948. On April 8, 1949, she married Paul Dean Wallis. They were married 55 years before his passing in 2004.
She was a homemaker for the many years that her husband worked construction. They moved around to many different locations and settled in Gardner, Kansas for some time where her children attended high school. After her husband’s retirement, they moved to Baldwin City in the early eighties where they built a home. Ginny was an activities director at the Baldwin Care Center for more than 20 years. She was an amazing cook and in her younger years, loved to go dancing with her husband.
Ginny is survived by her son, Mike Wallis (Paula) of Baldwin City; son, Mickey Wallis of Brookhaven, MS; daughter, Rebecca Slack of Rossville; and Kevin Wood (Sandy) of Baldwin; 7 grandchildren, many great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters and a grandson, Shane Wallis.
