Marvin Chaney Obituary

Marvin Edwin Chaney, age 83 of Wellsville, KS passed away Sunday, October 10, 2021 at Rock Creek of Ottawa.  Funeral services will be 11AM, Friday, October 15 with visitation one hour prior at 10AM. Interment will follow services in the Edgerton Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Franklin County Cancer Society in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Marvin Edwin Chaney was born June 1, 1938 in Pryor, Oklahoma, the son of Roy Newton and Rosa Carmen (Williams) Chaney. He grew up in the Overbrook, Lonestar, Lawrence area and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1958. In 1962 he married Virginia Lee Herbert. Marvin worked for Honeywell for almost 40 years and retired in 2001. He was a millwright and machine operator until completing his certification for becoming an electrician. He was a member of the IBEW 124 out of Kansas City and the Edgerton United Methodist Church.

Marvin loved gardening. In his younger years he loved hunting and fishing as well as square dancing. After retirement, he and his wife joined a camping club and would winter together in Texas with many other friends from the area.

Marvin is survived by his wife, Virginia, of the home; son, Bob Chaney of Shawnee, KS; son, David (Rachel) Chaney of Eudora; brother, Roy (Marilyn) Chaney of Albuquerque, New Mexico; brother, Richard (Kathy) Chaney of Lawrence; brother, John (Mary) Chaney of Lawrence; granddaughter, Adison Chaney of Lawrence; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Don Chaney, Joe Chaney and a sister, Sharon Chaney.
