Marlin Chanay Obituary

Marlin Artie Chanay Jr., “Martie”, was born on September 22, 1957 in Gardner, Kansas to Marlin Artie Chanay Sr. (Betty) and Marilyn Alexander Chanay Palmer. He passed away on February 8, 2025 after a battle with cancer. As a child, Martie enjoyed playing with trucks, riding his mini bike and participating in various athletic sports. He attended Wellsville High School and graduated with the class of 1976. After graduation, he became a truck driver. He enjoyed seeing all parts of the country and making friends along the way. Later in life, he worked at Central Fiber in Wellsville, Kansas. He enjoyed music and spending time with family and friends.

Martie is survived by his daughter Brandi Chanay Abell (Tim) of Alexandria, Minnesota, and her five sons: Logan Abell, Izaya Abell, Keenan Abell, Cayden  Abell, and Dominic Abell. The greatest joys in his life were his grandsons.

Martie is also survived by his sisters Marla Chanay D’Antoni (John) of Conroe, Texas, and Melissa Chanay of Olathe, Kansas, as well as his nephew John Kyle D’Antoni (Teresa), niece Auldyn D’Antoni Landry (Clay), great niece Oakleigh D’Antoni, and great nephew Jack Landy. He is also survived by his step-mother Betty Keller Chanay of Edgerton, Kansas. Surviving Uncles & Aunts include: Mary Ryburn, Ottawa, Kansas; Larry (Julia) Chanay, Lenexa, Ks; Bernard Stovall, Haysville, Ks; Helen Chanay, Topeka, Ks. and numerous cousins.

Recognition is given to all those who cared for Martie during his illness. A special thank you to Phoenix Homecare & Hospice, Olathe Cancer Center, Cancer Transportation Services, and all of his hospice nurses. The kindness and compassion of these special people was such a blessing to Martie and his family.

A graveside service is being planned for June. Burial will be at Vineland Cemetery in the Chanay family plot. Memorial donations in Martie’s name can be made to Phoenix Homecare Hospice In Time Of Need Program. 6803 W. 64th St. Mission, Ks. 66202 Suite 101.
