LuEtta Crist Obituary

LuEtta Norine Crist, age 90 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Thursday, November 2, 2017 at Olathe Medical Center. Funeral services will be 10AM, Wednesday, November 8th at the Wellsville Baptist Church. Visitation will be 6-8PM, November 7th at Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the LuEtta Crist Memorial Fund to be distrubted to various local civic organizations in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
LuEtta Norine Crist was born January 28, 1927 in Wellsville, Kansas the daughter of Harvey Raymond and Ruby Elizabeth (Rhoades) Rew. LuEtta grew up on the family farm outside of town and graduated from WHS in 1945. On July 3, 1946 she married Harvey Junior Crist in Wellsville. Junior preceded her in death in 2005. She was a homemaker until November of 1953, when her and Junior purchased the Clover Farm Store at 4th and Main in Wellsville. They later moved to 517 Main in 1976 and changed the name to Crist & Son Foods. They retired in 1994 after 41 years of business and service to their community. LuEtta was a butcher and bookkeeper. A manager, clerk and everything in between. She was a member of the Wellsville American Legion Womens Aux. Post 194 and a member of the Wellsville Baptist Church. She was an avid seamstress and cook and loved gardening. She gardened every year throughout her entire life. She made beautiful fruit baskets every holdiay season. LuEtta was a staple of the Wellsville community, along with her husband, and she will be missed dearly by her friends and family.
LuEtta is survived by her daughter and Son-in-law, Judy and Jerald Owings of Wellsville; son and daughter-in-law, Jim and Gail Crist of Wellsville; son Bob Crist of Wellsville; sister Ruth Ohrazda and husband John of Independence, MO; sister Lois McKinney of Olathe; brother Bob Rew and wife Carol of KCMO; sister, Beth Crawford and husband Larry of LeLoup; sister Marlena Cochburn of Shawnee; 4 grandchildren; Kari Rogers, Jayson Owings, Brandon Crist and Courtney Joy, all of Wellsville; 10 great-grandchildren; a God son, Bud Ohrazda of Plattsburg, MO; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Veda House; brother, Harvey Rew, Jr; and a great-grandson, Edward Jacob Joy, III (2005).
