Lorraine Frances Schrock

Lorraine Frances Schrock was born February 28, 1934 in rural Sheffield IA and passed away November 4, 2023 at Wellsville Health & Rehab, Wellsville KS.  Lorraine grew up on the farm and spent many hours driving the farm truck for her Dad.  She was an active band member at Hansell High School and played softball in the summer league.  After graduation, she spent a few years working in the Ad Department for the Hampton Reminder newspaper.

She married Robert Schrock in August of 1958 and moved to Lawrence KS where Robert launched a career in higher education.  During her early years in Lawrence, she worked as a secretary in KU’s Guidance Bureau.  As children joined the family, she became a full time, stay at home Mom, helping with paper routes and youth sports.  She was an active member of Central United Methodist Church, focusing on young child and youth programs.

She loved working with plants and flowers, especially tea roses and loved sharing the blooms with family, neighbors, and friends.  Each year she would join with close neighbors to conduct an annual plant and garage sale.  Many customers would return year after year to get some of her special plants and flowers.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Willie and Vena McKee, her brothers Wilbur, Harold, Marvin, and Bobby McKee.  

She leaves husband Robert Schrock, her children, Cheryl Sargent, Eric Schrock, Allison Schmitt and Andy Schrock, her 9 grandchildren and her sister Irene Anonson.

Contributions in remembrance of Lorraine may be made to Central United Methodist Church, the Salvation Army or a youth program at the church of your choice.  Contributions to be sent in care of Wilson Funeral Home, 607 PO Box 486, Wellsville KS  66092.  A private service to be held at a later date.
