Kenneth Wayne Mitchell

Kenneth Wayne Mitchell, age 88 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024 at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Memorial graveside services will be 11AM, Friday, October 25, 2024 at Clearfield Cemetery in Clearfield Community, Douglas County.

Kenneth Wayne Mitchell was born March 31, 1936 in Dawn, Missouri, the son of Byron H. and Oma Louise (Epps) Mitchell. He graduated from Gardner High School in 1955. He married Nancy Storch in 1962. They later divorced. He joined the United States Navy Reserve on June 27, 1954 and served his country for 10 years. He was honorably discharged on June 26, 1964.

Kenny worked at the Hercules Ammunition Plant after he was discharged from the Navy, and after it was closed, he went to work for Farmer’s COOP. He worked there until his retirement.

Kenny was a member of the Gardner Masonic Lodge #65 for 61 years.

Kenny is survived by his daughter, Patty Taylor; son, Richard “Rick” Mitchell; sister, Linda Suddarth; brother, John Mitchell; brother Byron H. Mitchell, Jr.; 2 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and other family members. He is preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Mary Shepard and Sue Hackler.
