Judith Ann “Judy” Wilson, age 77 of Wellsville, passed away June 25, 2024 at her home with family by her side. A memorial visitation will be 3-5PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville.
Judith Ann Wilson was born September 16, 1946 in Chetopa, Kansas the daughter of Julius Howard and Gladys Lavon (Pennington) Schultz.
Judy attended school in Chetopa, Kansas. Her and her siblings played baseball and did house chores every day. The attended church every night with their parents and after graduation, she moved to Olathe with her family so that her younger sister could join the deaf school.
On January 14, 1965, Judy married John Henry Wilson in a small church in the little town of Labette, Kansas. They shared almost 60 years of marriage before her passing. John survives at the home.
Judy worked at Santa Fe Trail school in Olathe as a lunch lady while living in Olathe until they moved to Wellsville. She worked at the Wellsville Café until her and John opened a secondhand store in Ottawa call J&J’s Second Hand Store. After closing their store, she worked for Nolke’s grocery store in Wellsville for many years before she retired.
Judy loved gardening. She enjoyed going to thousands of garage sales and thrift stores. She also collected hundreds of perfume bottles and loved picking random lint off of the floor and anyone that walked into her house. She also enjoyed her grandchildren’s many activities and when her great-grandbabies were born, they became her life. She wanted nothing else but to watch them grow and help take care of them.
Judy is survived by her husband, John Henry Wilsons of the home; daughter, Rhonda Messmer of Wellsville; daughter Micki Aguirre and Troy McDow of Ottawa; son, Brian Mausch of Connecticut; sister, Betty Manspeaker of Ottawa; sister, Kathy Welborn (Bob) of Belton, MO; sister, Mary Schultz of Spring Hill; grandchildren: Arianna Phares and Lucas Campbell of Wellsville; Daegan Asebedo of Wichita; John Tyler and Stacy Messmer of Ottawa; Lee Messmer of Wellsville; 6 great grandchildren and 1 great great-grandchild.
She is preceded in death by her parents, sisters, Rita Schultz, Martha Schultz and Sandy Barrett; son, Shawn Patrick Messmer and 1 great-grandchild.
