Joe Martin

Joe Yocum (Joe Allen Martin) 81 of Grandwiew MO, passed away Nov. 8th at Azria Health Olathe. Memorial Services will be held Sunday, Dec. 10 at the Belvidere Heights Baptist Church located at : 15109 White Ave., Grandview, MO 64030. Visitation will be from 2-3PM, with services following at 3PM. Joe was born in Highlandville, MO on April 23, 1932, to Roy Martin & Grace (Flood) Martin. He was 1 of 3 boys. Younger brother Gerald Martin passed in 1952 and he is survived by his older brother, Don Martin. Joe attended elementary and middle schools from 1939-1947, completing the 8th grade. He then helped out on the family farm of 172 acres. He served in the U.S Navy from 1952-1956 when he was honorably discharged. Joe married his first wife and had a son Doug Martin while he was in the Navy. Later in life Joe remarried Julia Barker who had 3 daughters & 1 son. He has 5 grand children and 12 great grandchildren. After Julia passed, Joe was reunited with a long time friend of 50 years Thelma Wright. They loved to visit the grandkids, go to concerts, fish, and garden. Joe worked his swimming pool business, which he greatly enjoyed, for over 50 years. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
