Joe Fredrick Broers

Joe Fredrick Broers, age 92 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Sunday, April 2, 2017 at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 11AM, Wedensday, April 5, 2017 at Wilson's Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior. Interment will follow services in the Oakwood Cemetery in Baldwin City. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsville Baptist Church or the Pleasant Valley Community Fund in care of Wilsons, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Joe Fredrick Broers was born August 19, 1924 in rural Wellsville, Kansas the son of Joe Fredrick and Marie Henrieta (Spitzli) Broers. He grew up in Wellsville and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1942. In March of 1961, he married Geraldine McRoberts. She preceded him in death in 1991. Joe was a farmer all of his life and a member of the Pleasant Valley Community. He enjoyed bowling, golf and pitching horseshoes.
Joe is survived by his two sister-in-laws, Bernadine Broers of Wellsville and Martha Broers of Ottawa; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, wife, 7 brothers, Earl, Wiley, Otis, Bert, Wendell, Lowell, Loren and a sister, Vona (Broers) Averill.
