Jay Dee Barnett

Jay Dee Barnett, age 69 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 12, 2018 at Meadowbrook Rehabilitation Hospital in Gardner. Private family graveside services were held Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer's Association in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Jay Dee Barnett was born April 13, 1949 in KCMO, the son of Harold Eugene and Marjorie Allene (Cayot) Barnett. Jay grew up in Wellsville with his family and graduated from WHS in 1967. He attended college at Baker University where he played for the university baseball and football teams. He graduated from Baker in 1971 with a Bachelor's in Education degree. Jay had been a cattle farmer for most of his life. He was a member of the Kansas Livestock Association, the Wellsville United Methodist Church and the Masons for many years. Jay was many things to many people and he will be dearly missed by all those that knew and loved him.
Jay is survived by his daughter, Dana Barnett of Lawrence, KS; sister and brother-in-law, Nancy and Les Rader of Lansing, KS; 3 nephews, 1 niece and their families and a host of good friends. He is preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Judy and an infant brother, James.
