James Hal Needham, age 87 of Lane, Kansas passed away Sunday, January 26, 2020 at Rock Creek of Ottawa. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Paws in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092
James Hal Needham was born June 1, 1932 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Raymond Milton and Frances Benita (Calvin) Needham. He grew up in Lane and graduated from Lane High School in 1950. James was drafted into the United States Army in 1953. In that same year, he married his high school sweetheart, Delores Jones on July 31st. Even though they later divorced, they continued to care for and help one another. James was stationed in Bamberg, Germany for 2 ½ years, then returned home to start a family and farm. He worked for Rock Island for several years and retired from working for Franklin County Road and Bridge Crew.
James is survived by his daughter, Virginia Hughes of Ottawa; daughter, Penny Needham of Ottawa; daughter Kim (Corey) Brenner of Panama City, FL; brother, Rex Needham of Lane, KS; grandchildren: Chris and Dawn Hutchinson of Wellsville; Ashton and Holly Schulz of Ottawa; Desiree and Lance Lamborn of St. Joseph, MO; Tyler Hutchinson and Dominique Huffman of Ottawa; Alisha and Taylor Glock of Lawson, MO; Cortney and Steven Jenkins of Rhode Island; Dakota Zinn of Panama City, FL; 3 great-grandchildren and one on the way. He is preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Max Needham.
