Jack Newton Berry, Jr., age 60 of Wellsville, KS passed away Wednesday at KU Medical Center. Funeral services will be 1PM, Monday, December 23, 2019 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville with visitation prior from 11AM-1PM. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Jack Berry Memorial Fund in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Jack Newton Berry was born September 16, 1959 in Opelika, Alabama, the son of Jack Newton Berry and Gloria Ann (Casaday) Collins. He grew up in Notasulga, Alabama and came to Kansas in 1977. He worked at Wolf Creek Power Plant for some time and then worked 17 years doing pest control for Wyatt Carlton. He later began his own business, A1 Pest Control that he ran for 5 years. Jack was recently employed by Ferguson Fire and Fabrication in KCMO and had been there for the past 9 years as a welder. He was a member of the Sprinkler Fitters Local Union #314. Jack loved to hunt, fish, do yardwork, play pool and spend time with his family and friends.
Jack is survived by his mother, Gloria (Kenneth) Collins of Notasulga, AL; father, Jack N. Berry, Sr. (Bonnie) of Opelika, AL; daughter, Joella (Troy) Payne of Burlington, KS; son, Aaron (Stephanie) Smith of Wellsville, KS; daughter, Aimee Berry of Burlington, KS; son, Justin Smith of Burlington, KS; daughter, Kristen Berry of Wellsville, KS; his beloved girlfriend, Barbara Sue Sweetwood of Edgerton, KS; sister, Karen Jones of Notasulga, AL; brother, Kirk Berry of Notasulga, AL; step-sister, Melinda (Jon) Summerford of Hornlake, MS; 9 grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins. He is preceded in death by his grandparents.
