Homer "Butch" Wayne Stottlemire

Homer “Butch” Wayne Stottlemire, age 84 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Friday, June 19, 2026 at KU Medical Center in Kansas City, Kansas. Funeral services will be 1PM, Saturday, June 27, 2026 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, Kansas. Visitation will be from 12-1PM, one hour prior. Homer “Butch” Wayne Stottlemire was born November 1, 1941 in Graham, Missouri, the son of Burl Colombus and Addie Bell (Taylor) Stottlemire. He grew up in Graham, Missouri and graduated from Graham High School in 1959. On August 21, 1959 Butch joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1962.

Butch married Sandra Lee Baker on June 9, 1961 and together they raised 2 boys. They later divorced. On January 9, 1976, he married JoAnn Louise Seyler. They were married 28 years before her passing in 2004. Butch has spent the last 11 years with his significant other, Marilyn Walker, and she survives at the home in Wellsville.

Butch worked for the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad as a conductor for 32 years before retiring.

He enjoyed watching sports and loved the KC Chiefs and NASCAR racing. He loved riding his Harley Davidson Motorcycles, mowing his property and was an avid card player. He had a humorous personality and could make anyone laugh.

Butch is survived by his significant other, Marilyn Walker of the home; son, Jeffery Wayne Stottlemire-Frye (Joann Gillespie) of KCK; daughter, LuAnn Broadus (Don) of Blue Springs, MO; daughter, Kathy Dorsey of Wellsville; sisters, Clara Mason of KCK, and Gladys Palmer of Ft. Worth, TX; brother, Ted Stottlemire of Broken Bow, NE; grandchildren: Jennifer Stottlemire (Said LaBrayji), Overland Park; Kristal Pape-Powell (Brandon) of Osawatomie; Chasity Murphy of Ottawa; Donald Broadus (Charity) of Madison, NE; Dana Ausherman (Taylor)of Baldwin City; Brandon Seyler of Cassville, MO; BJ Page of Ottawa; Josey Page (Samantha), West Virginia; and many great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his parents; wife JoAnn; sons, Douglas Dale Stottlemire and William Seyler; daughters, Mary Flynn and Sue Seyler; brothers, Charles “Charlie” LeRoy, Leon, Burl “Bubs”, Vernon “Sam”, Morris “Buck” and Robert “Rube” Stottlemire; and sisters, Dorothy Hendrix and Bonnie Clayton.
