Floyd Kent Shoup, age 86, of Olathe, Kansas passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at his home. Funeral services will be 11AM, Tuesday, May 12, 2026 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be from 10-11AM, one hour prior to services. Interment will follow in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Floyd Kent Shoup was born April 14, 1940 in Mulvane, Kansas, the son of Eugene and Lucille (Snyder) Shoup. Floyd grew up in Mulvane and graduated from Mulvane High School in 1958. He attended Kansas State University and earned his PhD in Grain Science in 1970. He worked 30 years in the food science and processing business. He owned his own company and retired in April of 2000.
On January 29, 2005, Floyd married Valerica Popa at Trinity Methodist Church in Kansas City, Missouri. She survives at the home in Olathe.
Floyd was extremely artistic and was skilled at creating beautiful sculptures. He loved travelling and the ocean. He was a lover of people and animals and will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved him.
Floyd is survived by his wife, Vali Shoup of the home; his daughters: Angie Sperry (Levi) and twin grandchildren, Michala and Turner of Iowa; Beth Holtwick (Dave) of Wellsville; Joanna Randall (Brady); and sister-in-law, Capi Costache (Doru) of Romania.
He is preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters, Martha Flemming and Barbara Kimble and a brother, Don Shoup.
