Eldon Wayne Good, age 88 of Wellsville, KS passed away Saturday, October 8, 2022 at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Funeral services will be 10:30AM, Friday, October 14, 2022 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be 6-7:30PM, Thursday evening, also at the funeral home. Interment in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the WHS Athletic Fund in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Eldon Wayne Good was born February 5, 1934 in Wellsville, Kansas the son of Eldon Levay and Opal Beatrice (Long) Good. He grew up in Wellsville and graduated from WHS in 1951. After high school, Wayne worked for a short time at the Sunflower Ammunition plant in DeSoto before joining the United States Navy. On June 20, 1954, he married Wanda Irene Scott in Wellsville. They were married just over 68 years before his passing. She survives. Wayne was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on November 3, 1975. Following his retirement from the Navy, he worked at Ottawa Typewriter Repair for 8 years. He then took employment with the United States Postal Service in Lawrence, where he worked for 15 years before retiring.
Wayne was a member of the Wellsville UMC and was involved in attending most Wellsville Eagles’ sporting activities for many years. He enjoyed fishing and camping and travelling with is wife and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
Wayne is survived by his wife, Wanda of Ottawa; daughter, Denise Good of Topeka, KS; son, Scott Good (Wanita) of Waverly, KS; sister, Wanda Clark of Waverly, MO; grandchildren: Machelle Zimmerman (Matt) of Fairview, OK; Whitney Good (Ryan Spence) of Haysville, KS; and Kyle Good of Austin, TX; great-grandchildren: Trinity Henning, Maverick Zimmerman and MaKinlee Zimmerman. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister, Velma J. Houston.
