Edward Oswald Obituary

Edward Raymond Oswald, age 84 of Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022 at Olathe Hospice House. A memorial visitation will be 2-4PM, Tuesday, May 17, 2022 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. A Celebration of Life for any and all family and friends who wish to attend will follow at the Gardner American Legion Post 19. (315 S. Meadowbrook Circle, Gardner, Kansas 66030). In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sons of the American Legion Post #19 in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Edward Raymond Oswald was born September 20, 1937 in Greeley, Kansas the son of Raymond Julius and Mary Bernadine (Egidy) Oswald. He grew up in Greeley, and graduated from Greeley High School in 1955. On October 11, 1959, Ed joined the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1965. In 1964, he married Erma Lutz and they were married 20 years.

Ed loved to travel to new places and experience new adventures. He loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, camping and hunting. He also enjoyed watching all sports and was a big KC Chiefs and KU Basketball fan. Ed loved being with his family and telling stories to his grandchildren. He loved lemon pie and purchased M&M’s by the large family bag. Ed was a gentleman and always sweet and kind to the ladies.

Ed was a member of the Pipefitters Local 533, from which he retired in 1997, and the American Legion LeRoy Hill Post 19.

He is survived by his son, E. Todd Oswald (Lisa) of Mapleton, KS; son, Mike Oswald (Rayna) of Gardner, KS; daughter, Lisa Miller (Daniel) of Gardner, KS; grandsons, Tim Oswald (Hillary) of Mapleton, KS; Paul Oswald (Cami) of Gardner, KS; Jeremy Smitha (Jean) of Mapleton, KS; Michael Oswald (Kalee) of Gardner, KS; granddaughters, Courtney Oswald (Andrew) of Gardner, KS; Faith Keffer of KCMO; Kelsey Miller (Joseph) of Olathe, KS; Katie Miller of Gardner, KS; 18 great grandchildren; brother, Don Oswald (Delores) of Overland Park, KS; brother, Robert Oswald (JoeAnn) of Gardner, KS; sister, Elaine Burks (Dave) of KCMO, and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents.
