Doris Jean Matile

Doris Jean Matile, age 92 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Monday, September 14, 2020 at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Graveside services will be 10AM, Thursday, September 17, 2020 at the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsville United Methodist Church or the Pleasant Valley Community in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Doris Jean Matile was born September 24, 1927 in Edgerton, Kansas the daughter of Alex A. and Helen M. (Murphy) Murdoch. She graduated from Leavenworth High School and later received her teaching certificate from Baker University. She taught in one-room school houses for several years. On May 11, 1949, Jean married Harry Dayton Matile in Edgerton, Kansas. They were married for 36 years before his passing. Jean was a member of the Wellsville United Methodist Church, the Eastern Star and Pleasant Valley Community. She loved being a homemaker and spending time with her family.
Jean is survived by her children: son, Louis Lynn Matile of Merriam, KS; daughter, Lois Jean Zielinski of Baldwin City, KS; son, Allen Jay (Karen) Matile of Ottawa, KS; son, Donald Karl (Judith) Matile of Fruita, CO; son, William Joe (Brenda) Matile of Ottawa, KS: son, Robert Keith Matile of Mound City, KS; daughter, Laura Leeann (Tony) Bishop of Wellsville, KS; brother, Murry Keith (Juanita) Murdoch of Eudora, KS; and many grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband and a son, Larry D. Matile.
