Donald Matile Obituary

Donald Karl Matile, 63 of Fruita, Colo., passed away on Saturday, Sept. 25, 2021 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colo. A graveside service is planned for 10 a.m., Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 at the Wellsville Cemetery, in Wellsville, Kansas, located at 4413-4421 Stafford Terrace. A memorial service is planned for Oct. 9, at 10 a.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints Redlands Building, 2235 Kingston Road, in Grand Junction, Colo. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Pleasant Valley Community School, PO Box 832 Wellsville, KS, 66092. 

Don was born Jan. 13, 1958 in Ottawa, Kan. He was one of eight children born to Dayton and Jean Murdoch Matile. He graduated from Wellsville High School in 1976.

Don married Melody Crist March 24, 1979. The couple had four kids. Later, Don married Judy Wagner Murdock on Nov. 22, 1995. He gained three step-kids.

Don loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them going fishing, playing cards and other games. He enjoyed watching Westerns and Documentaries. He enjoyed fishing, hiking, canoeing, camping and playing darts. 

Don was a truck driver for over 35 years. He traveled across the country hauling things from gasses to lumber to sand. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints

Don was preceded in death by his father Dayton Matile; mother Jean Murdoch Matile and brother Larry Matile.

Don is survived by his wife Judy. Survivors also include his seven children: Harmonie Matile, Wellsville, Kan.; Misty Matile Standifird and husband Don of Wagoner, Okla.; Nick Matile and wife Tiffany of Richmond, Kan.; Natali Matile Harmon and husband David of Wellsville, Kan.; Todd Murdock and wife Camille of Bozeman, Mont.; Tonya Murdock Ross of Queen Creek, Ari.; Teresa Murdock Correa and husband Manny of Queen Creek, Ariz.; 19 grandchildren; Nathan, Tyler, Isaac, Walker, Wyatt, Gertie, Gavin, Gabi, Dakota, Maverik, Cooper, Emme, Polly, Graceon, Alex, Maddison, Sharayah, Monique, and Jamie; and four great-grandchildren. He is survived by siblings: Lynn Matile of Merriam, Kan.; Lois Matile Zelinski of Baldwin, Kan.; Allen Matile of Ottawa, Kan.; Bill Matile and wife Brenda of Ottawa, Kan.; Bob Matile of Parker, Kan.; Laura Matile Bishop and husband Tony of Wellsville, Kan.; and 10 nieces and nephews.
