Diane Elizabeth (Moherman) Nelson, age 64 of Olathe, Kansas passed away Wednesday, April 26, 2023 at Olathe Medical Center. A Memorial visitation will be held 6-8PM, Friday, May 12, 2023 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville. Graveside services will be 10:30AM, Saturday, May 13, 2023 at the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Prairie Paws Animal Shelter in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Diane Elizabeth Nelson was born May 11, 1958 in Spokane Washington, the daughter of Richard Lynn and Elizabeth Ann (Hopkins) Moherman. Diane attended the Wellsville schools and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1976. After graduation, Diane attended Pitt State for a short time. She came back to Wellsville and joined her family in the long tradition of a career at the Wellsville Bank and First National Bank in Olathe. She spent over 30 years in the banking business. In 2014, she began working for the Johnson County Courthouse in the records department, retiring in 2021.
In 1984, she married Ryan Angell in Ottawa and to this union, two children were born. In 2008, she married Gregory Nelson at Fellowship Bible Church in Gardner, Kansas. They shared 15 years of marriage before her passing. Greg survives at the home.
Diane was a member of the Fellowship Bible Church. She loved animals, flowers, shopping, and was an amazing cook. She loved gifting others and invested much of her love and time in providing those gifts. She was a blessing to those who knew and loved her and will be dearly missed.
Diane is survived by her husband of the home; son, Blaine Angell (Jessica) of Gardner; daughter, Caitlin Herrick (Jon) of Ottawa; daughter, Gigi Rice (Clint Pruett) of Overland Park; daughter, Alyssa Alverez (Ramon) of Killeen, TX; daughter, Kylie Giacomozzi (Andy) of Killeen, TX; sister, Nancy Evans (Stephen) of Overland Park; sister, Susan Swan of Wellsville; 3 grandchildren: Kensley, Sophia and Jaxson; mother and father-in-law, Vern and Diane Nelson of Olathe; aunt Joan Beeks of Kansas City, MO; uncle, Dr. William O. Hopkins (Saundra) of Overland Park; aunt, Karen Hopkins of Bucyrus, KS; many nieces, nephews and cousins. She is preceded in death by her parents.
