Curtis “Shorty” Eugene Dade, age 43 of Scranton, Kansas passed away Tuesday, April 11, 2023 in Topeka. Funeral services will be 11AM, Saturday, April 15, 2023 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, Kansas. Visitation will be one hour prior to services from 10-11AM, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made for the benefit of his minor children in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092

Curtis “Shorty” Eugene Dade was born October 8, 1979 in Olathe, Kansas, the son of Marvin Clay and Marlene Elizabeth (Hopkins) Dade.

He grew up in Turner and attended Turner High School until he joined the family business, Dade Construction. He worked alongside his parents supervising multiple carpenters and contractors in the construction of multi-family and senior living facilities over the past 15 years.

On April 2, 2011, he married Kristin Harmon in Edwardsville, Kansas. They shared 12 years together before his passing. She survives at the home.

Shorty enjoyed drag racing, camping, boating, being on the beach and spending time with his family. He will be missed by those who knew and loved him.

Shorty  is survived by his wife, Kristin of the home; daughter, Destiny Dade of KCK and two granddaughters, Payton and Oaklee; son, Jacob Carter of Manhattan, KS; daughter, Ashley Carter of Shawnee; son, Dillon Dade of KCK; son, Jaxson Dade of Independence, MO; daughters, Brooklyn and Karly Dade of the home; mother, Marlene Dade and Ralph Sosebee of KCK; father, Marvin Dade of KCK; maternal grandmother, Norma Runnells (Jerry) of Gardner, KS; brother, Jeff Dade of Olathe; sister, Lori Freund (Mike) of Olathe; brother, Michael Dade (Maggie) of Tonganoxie;  many aunts, uncles, nieces and cousins. He is preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, maternal grandfather, and a cousin Travis Murphy (2020).
