Clyde Lin Coons was born May 31, 1952 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Robert Lee and Frances Berniece (Myers) Coons. He grew up in Wellsville and graduated from WHS in 1970. After graduating, Clyde went to work at Ford Motor Company in June of 1971.  On September 25, 1972, he married Deborah May Oshel in Ottawa, Kansas. They were married almost 54 years before his passing. He was a loving and devoted husband. She survives in Eudora.

On March 29, 1972, Clyde joined the United States Army. He served his country honorably during the Vietnam War and was discharged in 1973.

Upon returning from the Army, Clyde went back to work for Ford Motor Company. He worked there for 30 years before retiring in February of 2002.

After his retirement from Ford, Clyde went to work at USD 289 doing maintenance from August of 2003 to October of 2008. He later drove a chemical truck for East Kansas Chemical, a job he enjoyed immensely.

Clyde was a member of the Local UAW 249 and the Wellsville American Legion Post 194. He enjoyed camping and golfing, but most of all loved following his grandchildren around from one event to another that they were involved in. He was an amazing father, grandfather, husband and friend. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
