Charles "Chuck" Wheeler O'Connor

Charles Wheeler O’Connor, age 79 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Tuesday, July 29, 2025 at Spring Hill Health and Rehab. Graveside services will be 12PM, Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Tauy Baptist Church in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Charles Wheeler O’Connor was born February 11, 1946 in Ottawa, Kansas the son of Charles W. and Frances Lucille (Williamson) O’Connor. He grew up in LeLoup where he attended elementary and middle school and graduated from Wellsville High School in 1964. After high school, Chuck joined the Kansas City Union Laborers Local 1290. He worked on highways, power plants and many other construction projects for 40 years before retiring.

On December 30, 1967, he married Darlene Gail Dunham in Wellsville. She survives at the home in LeLoup. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and loved country cruising.

Chuck is survived by his wife of the home; son and daughter-in-law, Brian and Angela O’Connor of Overland Park, KS; daughter and son-in-law, Jaime and Michael Schram of Paola, KS; 12 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, son, Charles W. O’Connor, daughter-in-law, Gena O’Connor, and brother, Michael O’Connor.
