Charles Filmore Todd, Jr., age 86 of Spring Hill, Kansas passed away Thursday, July 11 at the Wellsville Retirement Community. Funeral services will be 2PM, Wednesday, July 17, 2024 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, with visitation one hour prior at 1PM. Interment will follow services in the Gardner Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsville Retirement Community in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Charles Filmore Todd, Jr. was born June 12, 1938 in Coffee County on the family farm, the son of Charles Filmore and Nora Ellen (Casey) Todd. He graduated from Highland Park High School in Topeka in 1956. In March of 1960, he married Carol Manlove. They later divorced.

Charles joined the United States Army in 1960 and services his county until he was honorably discharged in 1967. He also served in the Kansas National Guard.

Charles married Marilyn Ann Jenssen on August 14, 1966. They moved to the Gardner/Spring Hill area where they purchased a corn field and throughout their many years together turned it into a beloved 40-acre farm where they loved to care for their animals. They were married almost 55 years before her passing in 2021. Charles loved creating and building new things. He was always working on a project. His favorite past time was being on his mowers, especially his zero-turn. He enjoyed target practice and loved when his family and friends came by to practice as well. Charles fed his family well. He loved to cook his favorites: ribs, chili and potato salad. He also enjoyed helping his sister, Madelyn with her catering and loved meeting new people and sharing meals with them. Charles loved his family and always wanted to make sure they were well loved and taken care of. He was a member of the Miami Saddle Club and the Miami County Hereford Association.

Charles is survived by his daughter, Julie Todd (Rick Hollon) of Wellsville; his brother, La Ray Todd of Scottsdale, AZ; and many nieces, nephews and extended family and friends. He is preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Marilyn; sister, Madelyn Madden; son, Brett Todd and daughter Wendy Todd.
