Charles Joseph “Chuck” Smith, Age 56, of Paola, Kansas passed November 17, 2021, at his home following a long battle with Cancer. Funeral Services will be held 6PM, Thursday, May 12, 2022 at Journey Bible Church, (13700 W. 151st St, Olathe, KS 66062), 2022 with visitation prior from 4-6PM. Military burial honors will be 11AM, Friday, May 13, 2022 at Leavenworth National Cemetery, (150 Muncie Rd., Leavenworth, KS 66048). Legion riders will be escorting the family to the cemetery. Raised in a military family, Chuck was born August 17, 1965 in Heidelberg, Germany, and lived in many places before graduating from Tampa Catholic High School in Tampa, Florida. After graduation, Chuck joined the United States Marine Corps, serving in the premier special operations unit, Force Reconnaissance (FORECON). After leaving the military, Chuck worked in the elevator industry, eventually moving to Paola, Kansas.
Chuck always loved sports, and played baseball, hockey, softball, basketball, bowling, and golf. He once bowled a 300 game in a tournament and maintained his passion for golf throughout his life.
Chuck is survived by his loving wife Kim Holthouse, his children Andrew Smith, Brandon Smith, Nathan Smith, Sophia Smith, and Corey Smith, stepchildren Skylar Brock (Ernie Hamstra), Kenji Brock, and Jared Brock (Shannon), his sisters Rita Burnette (Doug), Donna Pruneau (Bob), Peggy Smith, and brother Gerry Smith.
Chuck is preceded in death by his brother Rodney Smith, and his parents, Joseph and Sophia Smith.
