Charles Albert Chance, Jr.

Charles A. Chance, Jr. "Lil Fritz", age 69 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020. No services are planned but family will hold a Celebration of Life at a later date. Burial will be in the DeSoto Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to the Charles Chance Memorial Fund in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Charles Albert Chance, Jr. was born October 22, 1951 in Lawrence, Kansas the son of Charles Albert Chance, Sr. and Thelma Jean (Willis-Grazier) Chance. On April 24, 1969 he married the love of his life, Vickie Fiatte and to this union a son, Mike and a daughter, TeeJay were born. They were married 51 years before his passing. She survives at the home.
Charles worked side by side with his father at Lister Petter until his retirement in 1981. He spent the following years cutting firewood and building furniture in his woodshop with his grandchildren. Most items they built together were donated for Christmas and fundraisers.
Charles is survived by his loving wife of the home; son, Mike (Mary) Chance; daughter, TeeJay (Tom) Mayfield; sisters, Laura Dehr and Patty (Larry) Earl; biological grandchildren, Charles Chance (Lara), Jozy Chance (Gina), Mary Chance (Robert), Charlie Mayfield (Cody); Ciaann Chance (Nathan), Travis Mayfield (Xana) and Bobby Taylor; 14 biological great-grandchildren and two on the way, (not fortunate enough to meet Big Poppy). He is also survived by all of the children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren that were not biologically his, but were fortunate enough to know him as Poppy and were a huge piece of his heart.
Charles is preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John; a granddaughter, Billy Jo and a great grandson, Brayson.
