Carolyn Marie Landreth, age 79 of Wellsville, Kansas passed away January 16, 2020 at University Hospital in Columbia, Missouri. Funeral services will be 1PM, Friday, January 31, 2020 at Wilson's Funeral Home with visitation one hour prior at 12PM. Interment will follow services in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wellsville City Library in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Carolyn Marie Landreth was born January 19, 1940 in Kirksville, Missouri the daughter of Gerald Thomas and Vera Leota (Wiles) Billington. She grew up on a large farm in Adair County, and attended Banner, a one-room school house in her elementary years, La Plata from grades 9-11 and then graduated from Kirksville High School in 1957. She attended cosmetology school in KCMO and while there, met her future husband. After she graduated, she married Jerry F. Landreth on November 1, 1958 in Miami, Oklahoma. They moved to Wellsville in 1964 where she owned and operated her own beauty salon. They were married 55 years before his passing in 2013. After his passing, Carolyn reconnected with Gary Moyers, whom she had dated before she met Jerry while in high school. She spent the last 7 years of her life with Gary on his farm in Gibbs, MO. Being on the farm made her very happy. She loved feeding and taking care of the cows, and mowing and riding ATV's. Carolyn enjoyed people. She was a loving and caring person who also enjoyed books, working on her family tree, shopping, cooking, board and card games and showing tractors in parades with Gary. She was a member and was active in the American Legion Auxiliary, Wellsville American Legion Post 194.
Carolyn is survived by her daughter, Dolores Springer; daughter, Danita Dalton of Eagle Rock, MO and son Doug Landreth of Denver, CO; brothers, Cecil and Derrell Billington; sister, Debra Augspurger; 9 grandchildren: Jeremy, Tiffany and Renee Attebery, Brandin Seyler, Corey Enfield, Jamie Dalton, and Keegan, Rush and Nicholas Landreth; 18 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents and husband.
