Bonnie Jean Rhoades, age 91 of Lawrence, Kansas passed away Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Rock Creek of Ottawa. Graveside services will be 11AM, Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at the Wellsville Cemetery. Visitation will be prior to graveside at 10AM at Wilson’s Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Ascend Hospice in care of Wilson’s, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092
Bonnie Jean Rhoades was born February 28, 1931 at her home near Eldon, Missouri, the daughter of Peter and Margerie (Wyrick) Colvin. She grew up in Miller County and lived in Jefferson City for some time. She moved to Kansas in 1968 and stayed in this area for the rest of her life. Bonnie was a homemaker and loved her family. She had 5 generations of family around her and her love for them was the true joy of her life. Her greatest joys were centered around her family and Jesus.
Bonnie is survived by her daughter, Colleen Newell of Wellsville, KS; son, Mike Smith of Ottawa; daughter Debbie Keaton (Freddie) of Lawrence; son, Steve Smith (Nedra) of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter Charlene McConnell (Daren) of Olathe; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, 2 brothers and 2 sisters.
