Arletta Fae Anders, age 78 of Eudora, Kansas passed away peacefully Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Brookside Retirement Community in Overbrook, Kansas. Funeral services will be 10AM, Friday, February 26, 2021 at Wilson's Funeral Home in Wellsville. Visitation will be 6-7PM, Thursday evening, February 25, 2021, also at the funeral home. Interment will follow services in the Clearfield Cemetery, in the Clearfield Community, rural Douglas County. Memorial contributions may be made to the Douglas County 4-H Foundation in care of Wilson's, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.
Arletta Fae Anders was born February 25, 1942 in Ethel, Missouri, the daughter of Lloyd and Ruth (Dowell) Whisenand. She was raised in the rolling Green Hills of Northern Missouri on an Angus farm. She married Kirby D. Anders on October 4, 1958 in New Boston, Missouri and they both played in the Bucklin High School Band. After marriage, Kirby and Arletta moved to Kansas City, then to Lawrence, settling on a small farm south of Eudora in 1968. She and Kirby lived their lives there and were married 62 years before her passing. He survives at the home.
Arletta worked for Hallmark Cards in Lawrence for 11 years and was a cook for the Gardner School system. She enjoyed family, travelling, camping, canoeing, and helping her kids with their 4-H projects.
She is survived by her husband, Kirby, of the home; son, Dale Anders and wife Sonya of Chapman, KS; daughter Angela Leonard of Eudora; 6 grandchildren: Austin Anders, Aaron Anders and wife MiKayla, Augustus Anders, Justin Leonard and Alexia Leonard; two great-grandchildren, Adam Anders and Riley Salis; sisters, Carolyn Wald of Mendon, MO and Donna Payne and her husband Gerald of Bucklin, MO; and several nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents.
