Alma Josephine (Rhine) Warnock

Alma Josephine Warnock, age 95 of Leawood, formerly of Wellsville, KS passed away Friday, October 1, 2021 at Glenwood Village of Overland Park. Funeral services will be 11AM, Wednesday, October 6 at Wilson’s Funeral Home in Wellsville, KS. Visitation will be 10AM, one hour prior. Interment will follow in the Wellsville Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice and the Wellsville United Methodist Church in care of Wilson’s Funeral Home, PO Box 486, Wellsville, KS 66092.

Alma Josephine Warnock was born June 17, 1926 in Orion, Kansas the daughter of George Clifton and Hazel (Houston) Rhine. She graduated from Baldwin High School in 1944 and attended Baker University until 1946. Alma worked for TWA in Kansas City and Baldwin City Telephone Office. On August 4, 1946, she married Bill Warnock in Baldwin City. They were married 60 years before his passing in 2006. Alma was the Wellsville High School secretary for many years and also worked for the Wellsville doctor’s office. She retired from Central Telephone in Gardner in 1983. After retirement, she and Bill travelled, loving their time on the road together.

Alma was a member of the Wellsville United Methodist Church where she was also a Sunday school teacher and communion leader. She was a Brownie and Girl Scout Leader, a member of the PTA, the American Legion Auxiliary and was a past matron of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Alma is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Carol and Mike Baker of Leawood, KS; daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Butch Schuman of Overland Park, KS; 4 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. She is preceded by her parents, her husband, 4 brothers and 3 sisters.
