God’s plan for Charles E. “Charlie” Harrison was completed July 7, 2020 and he was called home to Heaven. Due to current COVID19 pandemic, the family has chosen to forego traditional funeral services or a memorial at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the King of Kings Lutheran Church’s choir or Sunday school programs as a testimonial of Charlie’s faith and hopes to bring others to Christ, 306 E. Madison Street, Gardner, KS 66030.
Charlie was born in Detroit, Michigan on May 20, 1939 to Claude and Violet Harrison and spent most of his childhood in the thumb area of Michigan. He graduated from Sebewaing High School in 1957 and Ferris State University in 1961.

Charles married the woman he loved, Sandra Lea Hinkle on December 15, 1962 and together they had four children and seven grandchildren who were the joy of his life. Charlie and Sandra loved to travel in their 57 years together. He loved a good party and to gather his best friends and neighbors together.

After proclaiming Christ as his Savior he was active in Christ Lutheran Church of Overland Park, KS and King of Kings Lutheran Church in Gardner, KS. Charlie was a member of the choir, was a Sunday school teacher, a Care Caller, Greeter, Communion preparer and a member of the Foreign Mission Team making trips to Guatemala to build an orphanage and schools as well as volunteering after Hurricane Katrina with rebuilding the community. Charlie was a volunteer Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) worker, working with children of parents who were going through difficult divorces to ensure that the children’s safety and desires were heard.
